TAGD holds two semester-long game jams in the fall and spring.
Members are given the opportunity to form small teams and create a game based on a theme chosen by TAGD's officers.  Throughout the semester, the teams are given opportunities to present their progress and get feedback from mentors and other members of the club.

At the end of the semester, the games are judged by a select panel of professional game developers. Awards are given for the best three games overall, as well as the best of specific categories, like art or programming. To see some of the games created for past jams, check out the "Game Jams" tab!

"...make something, just do it right. You can start small with mods you can make big games but make something and get noticed and that's the best way you can get into the industry."

"...school is important...
but they're not going to teach you really the skills you need to really make games. You need to go do it and learn for yourself."
-- Todd Howard
  FALLOUT 3 DIRECTOR
Every month, we invite industry professionals to speak about their experience working in the field and how best to prepare for the challenges it offers.

The different professionals invited to speak reflect the various facets of the industry, such as game designers, art directors, and executive producers.  Many of them have worked on well-known projects such as Call of Duty, Star Wars the Old Republic, and Dragon Age.
Those eager to learn more about the key skills needed to successfully create a game are given the opportunity through workshops.

While regular weekly meetings offer a lot of information regarding what goes into a great game, the workshops allow you to learn in a more practical environment.  Topics covered in workshops and meetings include a wide variety of topics, from the basics of sound design to learning a game engine.
